Olivia Rose Austin - David Austin Roses

I have always been a fan of David Austin Roses. My first one, planted many years ago was Golden Celebration. It's deeply petaled fragrant blooms stole my heart and I just knew i'd be growing more of these creations. Since that time, I've added many David Austin roses varieties to my garden, all of which bring a sense of the English countryside to my Alabama garden space.
I am always on the look out for roses that not only bring us delightful blooms and sweet fragrance, but i'm also looking for roses that are highly disease resistant. Olivia Rose Austin checks all those boxes and more!
Three shrubs of this rose arrived in late February some three years ago and this being a perfect time to plant roses in Alabama, in the ground they went. By May, they had doubled in size and were covered in blooms. Most Austin varieties take a year or two to produce such results and I was overwhelmed at how quickly this rose established itself in the garden and it hasn't stopped. Each year, the canes very easily reach five feet tall, producing three or four flushes of blooms each season. In the humid Alabama summer, this rose has proven itself to be very resistant to black spot.

Season after season and year after year, this rose has proven itself to be a top performer in my garden. One other attribute I love is the variation of color as spring passes into summer and then to fall. The color is much more pink in spring and fall, yet light pink in the hot months of summer. It has a very upright growth habit and produces flushes of some of the most beautiful fragrant blooms you've ever seen. If you love the allure and romance of English roses, a fragrance with hints of fruit, do give Olivia Rose Austin a try.
